FOOD VISIONSYSTEMS

COMPUTER VISION · FOOD SAFETY

A clearer view
of food safety.

Exploring how computer vision could help food businesses better understand everyday hygiene practices.

Our initial development focus is handwashing monitoring — bringing a practical, privacy-conscious perspective to a fundamental part of food safety.

OUR STARTING POINT

Everyday hygiene. Thoughtful technology. Evidence first.

01 / OUR FOCUS

Starting with
the fundamentals.

Handwashing is a familiar routine.
Understanding it in practice is a complex challenge.

We are investigating how computer vision could support the observation of handwashing activity in food environments, and what information would be useful to the people responsible for hygiene.

The work begins with questions: what can be observed reliably, how should observations be interpreted, and how can a system fit responsibly into everyday operations?

Development stageOur work is exploratory. We are not presenting a commercially deployed product or claiming validated accuracy, compliance, or food safety outcomes.

02 / OUR APPROACH

Careful by design.

Useful technology starts with understanding
the environment — and the people in it.

01

Practical questions

Start with real workflows and the needs of food teams. Explore where observation could add useful context to existing hygiene practices.

02

Privacy from the outset

Consider purpose, data minimisation and appropriate access early. Any future evaluation would need clear information for those affected and suitable safeguards.

03

Evidence before claims

Investigate limitations and test assumptions. Performance and suitability would need evaluation before any claims of effectiveness or operational use.

Our aim is to support informed human oversight. Any future technology would sit alongside established food safety procedures.
